How soon will I receive the item I ordered for my department?Upon arrival on campus, Central Receiving delivers 85% of all packages within 24-hours of receipt and 95% within 48-hours.
Do I need to receive the item into Banner?
Standard Purchase Orders are received into Banner by Central Receiving.
Do I need to receive blanket purchase orders?
Yes, Central Receiving does not have the required information needed to receive blanket orders.
How can I track the delivery of my university purchase?
The receipt of purchases can be tracked in Banner and additional information can be obtained by contacting Central Receiving at (313) 577-1268.
Can Central Receiving tell me if they have received my item?
Yes, Central Receiving can provide this information and in addition, provide dates, copies of packing slips and department signatures.
How do I return an item to the vendor for credit?
If the item was acquired with a Purchase Order you must obtain a Return Material Authorization (RMA). The RMA is initiated through Purchasing. If the item is purchased with your University Procurement Card you must contact the vendor to authorize the return. Central Receiving will then pick-up the merchandise and make all necessary preparations for the vendor return.
Does Central Receiving move furniture?
No, Furniture moves are performed though Facilities, Planning and Management.
I want to dispose of unwanted capital and non-capital equipment and furniture?
All obsolete equipment and furniture is disposed of through the Property Management Office.
How do I purchase surplus university equipment and furniture for my department and personal use?
Contact the Property Management Office to view surplus equipment and furniture at (313) 577-3698.
What do I need to send a package, and who pays for it?
Central Receiving requires an Internal Requisition and Inter-Account Bill (IRB) and account number to charge back costs to departments.
How do I order university forms?
Click on the General Purpose Forms button on this page. The button will open a forms menu allowing you to place and order.
What carrier do you utilize for out bound shipping?
Central Receiving supports United Parcel Service (UPS) as a university preferred vendor. The university agreement provides 40-60% discounts on published rates.
How do I get graduate and undergraduate bulletins?
Bulletins are General Purpose Forms and ordered on this page.
Can I ship FedEx?
Yes, you can ship FedEx, but you will pay published rates and they require notification of pickup.
Does Central Receiving provide packaging essentials?
Based on conditions Central Receiving will assist you with packaging.
Can I ship laboratory specimens with dry ice through UPS?
Yes, UPS will accept domestic specimen shipments, labeled medical supplies/dry ice and not exceeding a total of 5 LB.
How do I ship international laboratory specimens requiring dry ice?
Central Receiving recommends FedEx for this service.
How do I track a lost package?
Contact Central Receiving with the carrier, vendor name, date it was delivered and the tracking number. Central Receiving will research the package and contact you any with additional information
What do I do if Central Receiving delivered a package I know nothing about?
